woodlands with the change in the climate.
This change led to the emergency of herds
of grazing animals. The first apes evolved. The
first hominids (early humans) arrived during
the Pliocene Epoch, the end of which
saw the start of the Ice Age.
Many mammals died out but some,
such as the Woolly Mammoth,
survived the cold, other mammals
moved south to warm weather.
