The Coming of Life
The Cenozoic Era
The name Cenozoic means "recent life"
in Greek. This era, following the glacial
period, is called the Age of the Mammals.
The mammals appeared in the Pliocene Epoch.
They became the masters and took possession
of the land, of the water, and of the air. The early
mammals were very different from the ones we know
today. Man appeared during the last million years.
There are two periods in the Cenozoic Era.
The Tertiary Period
The Quaternary Period
