MONTESSORI THE GREAT LESSONS : The Cambrian Period

 The Coming of Life

 The Cambrian Period

The name comes  from a part
of England once called Cambria
in Latin and now known as Whales.
The first fossils from this period
 were found in Cambria

In excavating for fossils scientists
 find several layers on earth.
The deepest layer is from
the oldest stratum of the earth.

 There were many invertebrate
 animals. They were
protozoa, porifera,
coelenterates, worms,
arthropods, mollusks,
and echinoderms.

The most important animal
of this period was the Trilobite who
were crustaceans belonging to the
arthropods.They were the most
plentiful and powerful animals at that
time, filling the seas and oceans
because they had no enemies. They
were omnivorous. Some grew to be
 longer than 15 inches. The
 only plants were algae.

In the Cambrian Period
the water was warm. When
the waters cooled from the
melting of the ice the Trilobites
diminished and finally disappeared.
